The mission of the University Counseling Center at the Health Sciences Center (UCC-HSC) is to provide confidential, on-site, psychological and psychiatric services to support the academic progress of the diverse students of the Health Sciences Center.
Initial assessments, crisis intervention, brief psychotherapy, psychiatric care, referrals, and support in the form of groups and workshops are provided free of charge to students of the schools of Medicine, Dental Medicine, Nursing, Social Welfare, and Health Technology and Management . We offer consultation to faculty and staff members, as well as education and prevention programs for the HSC community. We seek to encourage an environment that integrates the personal and the academic development of health care professionals. A Meditation and Relaxation group is open to all students. For information and to sign up, please call 444-7760.
We are committed to affirming and respecting people of all backgrounds so that our services are trusted and known to promote the dignity and welfare of each individual. We work toward the elimination of prejudice and discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, religion or socioeconomic class.
