CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS - REGISTRATION
Student leaders need to register their student club/organization with the Department of Student Activities. All student groups are required to register every year so that the most current contact information is available.
Registration for the upcoming academic year occurs between April 1st- October 1st!

Club Registration 2009-2010
(Make sure you select 2009-10 from the dropdown menu on the form itself!)
Follow these easy steps to get registered:
- If you are interested in starting a new club, please click on 'How to Start New Club' on the right of the page. Please note you will not be able to start your new club until Fall 2009.
- If you are a sport club, you must only register with the Department of Campus Recreation, located in the Sports Complex, G-7. Call 632-7168 for more info.
- Enter ALL the information requested on the online form found at the link above
- PRINT OUT THE COMPLETED FORM BEFORE SUBMITTING
- Have ALL 4 officers on the Executive Board sign next to his/her name
- Have the Faculty/Staff Advisor sign next to his/her name
- Have the President sign the Anti-Hazing statement
- Email your Club/Organization Constitution to studentactivities@notes.cc.sunysb.edu. (See below for an example of a model constitution)
- Hand in the completed packet to the Student Activities Office, SAC 218
Student Activities Office will review documents and will provide an approval letter, if there are no problems.

Athletic/Recreational clubs need to register with the Department of Campus Recreation, located in the Sports Complex, Room G-7. For more information, call 632-7168.
Fraternity and Sorority chapters will need to submit four (4) additional forms:
- Contact Update Sheet
- Certificate of Compliance
- Anti-Hazing Rules and Regulations Compliance
- Membership Roster
Benefits of Registering:
Registration status allows a student group to exercise special privileges including:
- Use of designated facilities and audio visual equipment at no cost
- Receiving a club mailbox, club email, and club website
- Sponsorship of programs and events on and off campus
- Eligibility for funding
- Opportunities and permission to publicize flyers, banners and posters
- Ability to promote the group through participation at involvement fairs
- Access upon approval of office space in the Stony Brook Union, Student Activities Center , or other facility
- Ability to have events advertised on "Target Vision" and any departmental calendars
Funded by USG or GSO:
Student groups who obtain funding from the Undergraduate Student Government or the Graduate Student Organization, must also update their registration paperwork and apply for funding annually, with their respective student governments.
