- Our ceramic ware is handmade in the Union Craft Center ceramic studio. Come on over and support this creative community. Many fine pieces are available to purchase including bowls, mugs, vases, teapots, sculpture, plates, etc.
- Sales are generally held on Wednesdays in the Union Lobby from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. throughout the semester. Check our web calendar for the current schedule.
- Stop by the Craft Center in the lower level of the Union during office hours. We always have several shelves full of pottery for sale.
- Our potters gladly accept special orders. Call the office at (631) 632-6822 for more information.

- Come sit back, relax, and be creative! Here is a great stress reliever and a fun way to meet new people. Check out all the different projects you can make and take home to decorate your room! Craft Night is held at the beginning of each semester in the Union Ballroom, 7pm-10pm.

- Ceramic Membership
- Access to the well-equipped ceramic studio during posted hours throughout the semester. Available to past members. Includes glazes and some firings. *Please note that there is a firing limit, for details see Director. All clay must be purchased through the studio.
- Pottery on the Wheel
- Beginner to intermediate levels receive a good foundation in the methods of throwing on the potter's wheel while making a variety of forms. Glaze and surface design will be demonstrated.
- Pottery Making II
- For the more experienced potter. Explore techniques of making, shaping, altering, and glazing thrown forms. Students are encouraged to develop a body of work based on their exploration.
- Mold Making into Hand Building
- Learn the steps in making a one part plaster mold to begin creating new and exciting forms and textures for clay.
- Hand Built Textured Vessels
- A terrific introduction to ceramics class. Explore alternatives to wheel throwing. Construct and combine forms using pinch, slab and coil. Embellish with texture stamps of your own design, stains and glaze.
- Clay and Glaze Composition
- A strong knowledge of the basic chemical components of clay and glaze allows the ceramic artist to better understand and manipulate the materials. Experimentation and discussions on the properties, function, components of ceramic materials and studio safety.
- Glaze Workshop
- Explore the intricacies of good glazing techniques, use of oxides and slip application for great variations in glazing. All levels.
- The Yoga of Throwing
- Find your center! Explore a yogic approach to throwing on the wheel. Techniques will be introduced using pranayama (breath work) as well as the incorporation of the bodies energy center to bring more awareness to the process of throwing. Gentle yoga asana (poses) will be demonstrated to alleviate tension in the wrists, shoulders and back. Some throwing recommended.
- The Perfect Teapot Workshop
- Learn the principles of throwing and assembling your very own functional teapot. Intermediate levels.
- Draped Forms in Clay Workshop
- This intensive workshop will focus on the draped form. Students will use cheese cloth dipped in colored slips then draped over an armature or in a mold. Add interest by embellishing with found objects and polymer clay (which we will make and bake in class). Some ceramic experience required.
- Stamp Making Workshop
- Make your mark! Embellish your ceramics with texture stamps of your own design. Create a logo or a signature stamp. Handmade stamps are useful decorating tools for all your ceramic projects. All levels welcome!
- Finding One's Way with Paper Clay
- The combination of paper fibers and porcelain produces a clay body with amazing possibilities. Here is an opportunity for beginners and experienced students to create functional and/or sculptural pieces without concern for shrinking, cracking or warping. It's true! Come see for yourself and find your own way with paper clay.
- Conceptual Ceramic Sculpture
- Clay is one of the most versatile and immediate of all sculptural forms. Students will focus on creativity and experimentation. Topics to be explored will include the body, mind, landscape and machine. Student should have knowledge of the basics of pinch, coil, and slab construction.
- Pit Firing Workshop
- Explore this alternate form of ceramic firing with its smoky effects. No two pieces are alike using this technique that creates delicate surface and muted color patterns. Includes clay, glaze workshop and firings. You must register early to receive clay. All students are required to participate in the Fire Watch.
- Whimsical Clay Critters for Everyone
- Learn how to build a 12" clay animal figure using paper clay and simple household tools. Beginners will learn basic hand-building techniques. Those with clay experience will be surprised at how easy and spontaneous clay sculpture can be. Demonstrations will guide you through a step by step method to construct and complete a critter. Once fired, glaze your creation using low fire under glazes. An airbrush demonstration will show a unique blending of colors. Learn special finishing touches with the addition of polymer clay objects, straw, feathers and a wooden base.

- A complete introduction to mix drinks and liquors as well as bars management. In-class practice (using simulated liquors), lectures, and demos. A popular and useful entertainment course. Includes book and certificate.
