ROOM SELECTION 2009
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT WEST APARTMENT ELIGIBILITY

The West Apartments are the premier housing community for Undergraduates on the Stony Brook University campus. Featuring Apartment style units with full kitchens, air conditioning, a year round housing option and the option of single occupancy bedrooms, eligibility to reside in West will be extended to residents who maintain the highest level of academic and community standards.

The following information summarizes the West Apartment eligibility criteria effective with the Fall 2009 semester:

  • Occupancy in the West Apartments is contingent upon each resident maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and displaying a good disciplinary history.

  •  During Room Selection, residents who do not have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher will be excluded from selecting a space in West.

  • Current residents of West whose cumulative GPA drops below a 3.0 will not be permitted to renew their housing agreement in West during the next year’s Room Selection process. These individuals will be eligible to select a residence hall space, only, during Room Selection if they wish to return to campus housing for the following academic year.

  •  Students found responsible for two or more Level I infractions and/or disciplinary hearings, or, any resident found responsible for one or more Level II or III infractions will immediately become ineligible to reside in West.

  • If through the judicial review process a current resident of West becomes ineligible to reside there, the resident will be immediately administratively reassigned to a space in the residence halls.
