EXECUTIVE BOARD

Every Hall Council has a full body, elected executive board, which consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and two RHA representatives. Some hall council eboards will elect additional positions as they see fit (for example, many hall councils will have an advertising coordinator). The main responsibility of the eboard is to ensure that the Constitution of the Hall Council is upheld, maintain a sense of community within the residence hall community, disseminate information about what is happening in the building and on campus, and ensure that all residents’ voices are being heard. All residents are eligible to run for any of the positions, as long as they meet certain criteria.

Besides running the weekly meetings, the executive board will often have various programs and events throughout the year, both educational and social. Hall Council members often play a very important role in many Stony Brook traditions, such as building the Homecoming float, making banners for Spirit Week, and constructing boats for the Roth Regatta.

Hall Council eboard members often go onto bigger and better things, such as becoming an eboard member for the Undergraduate Student Government, becoming an RA or becoming eboard members of other clubs and organizations. It is a great stepping stone for people who want to develop their leadership skills!
