Early Arrival Housing Application Instructions:

Stony Brook University’s residence halls open the weekend prior to the start of each semester. In general, new Freshmen and Transfers are permitted to move in on the Saturday prior to the start of the semester while returning students are permitted to return to housing on the day prior to the start of classes.

Campus Residences does make provisions for students with documentable need to enter the residence halls prior to their scheduled move in date. All residents who receive permission for early access to their room will incur an additional nightly charge for housing (equal to the nightly cost of hosing for their space during the semester) for each night prior to their scheduled check in date that they occupy their space (determined based on the day the housing agreement is signed and / or keys to the space are issued).

Residents with approved early entry to the residence halls may not host guests or sponsor events in their room / building during the early access period.

If you are requesting early access to your space, please complete and submit the attached web form. Your request will be reviewed and an email response sent to your preferred email address.

If you have previously submitted a early arrival application and wish to add to or modify your preferences, please have your Stony Brook ID # (not your social security #) and the PIN # you created when you first completed a early arrival application:
